  • You can purchase your tickets directly at the Round Tower’s ticket office upon arrival. Only event/concert tickets are available for pre-purchase on our Danish webshop.

We prefer payment by credit card, although cash is accepted in Danish kroner (DKK) or Euro (only paper bills, no coins). Change is only available in DKK.

From April 1st, 2024, Rundetaarn will cease to be included in the Copenhagen Card.

  • The Round Tower has many visitors. Please note that the tower has a maximum capacity for guests that our staff is required to comply with. During peak hours, queuing and periodic breaks in ticket sales may occur to manage guest flow, but the wait rarely exceeds more than 20 minutes.

  • The only way to the top of the Round Tower is through the ascending Spiral Ramp, which is approximately 200 metres in length. Where the Spiral Ramp ends it is followed by two sets of stairs: a wide wooden staircase and a smaller winding of stone leading up to the viewing platform.

There is no elevator in the Round Tower. Because of the staircases near the top, the tower is unfortunately not very accessible for visitors in wheelchairs. Exhibitions and other events in the Library Hall can be accessed, but please note that the incline makes it difficult for non-electrial wheelchairs to climb.

Guests with disabilities pay regular admission fee on equal terms with other visitors. If guests with disabilities depend on the aid of a caregiver, they can bring a caregiver/companion for free upon presentation of an officially issued companion card, whether Danish or foreign.

If you have any questions regarding the necessary documentation, please contact Rundetaarn before your visit on: post@rundetaarn.dk.

Guide dogs and service dogs are allowed.

  • Larger groups of 40 or more will not be admitted all at once but are requested to split up into smaller groups.

The Round Tower is currently not offering guided tours.
In stead, immerse yourself in our free audio stories here.

School classes and other institutions are requested to consult the page “For Schools” prior to their visit.

  • You are allowed to film and take pictures for private use and to document your visit using phones and smaller cameras. Setting up equipment or having photo sessions is not allowed without permission from the Round Tower.

The Round Tower does not wish to act as a backdrop for commercial product marketing or wedding photography.

You must always contact the Round Tower for approval of photo and film shooting.

Read more and find contact info here.

  • Prams and pushchairs cannot access the viewing platform because of the stairs. They can be parked either just after the ticket booth near the entrance or by the side before the wooden stairs. Please note that the Round Tower is not responsible for your personal belongings.

  • Larger luggage and suitcases cannot be brought into the tower and we cannot offer luggage storage. Instead we refer you to VisitCopenhagens general recommendations.

  • Traffic to and from the viewing platform at the top is regulated by a traffic light, which may cause queuing for a short amount of time.

  • Aside from guide and service dogs, you cannot bring dogs or other pets with you in the Round Tower.

  • You can bring your own food and beverages. Consuming it in the Library Hall and café, however, is not allowed.

  • The Round Tower is located in the heart of Copenhagen, surrounded by buildings including shops, offices, apartments and private residencies. We expect our visitors to be respectful and considerate of our neighbors.

  • Smoking is not allowed in the Round Tower or on the top platform.

  • Anything that is handed in or found in the Round Tower, is kept in our lost and found box. Please call +45 33 73 03 73 if you think you lost something during your visit.

The Library Hall

Half-way up the Tower’s Spiral Ramp, on the floor just above the Trinity Church, lies the Library Hall – the former university library which now hosts changing exhibitions, concerts, cultural events and the Round Tower’s shop.

Your normal entry ticket grants you access to the current exhibition except when it is closed temporarily due to special events or construction of coming exhibitions. Check our website prior to your visit to stay updated.

The Observatory at the Round Tower

The Observatory is located at the top of the Round Tower. You are always welcome to look inside and let your thoughts wander across the Universe.

During the winter season from October to March, the Observatory is manned by our astronomers Tuesday and Wednesday evenings 18-21.

A visit to the Observatory is included in the admission price.
