Guided Tours

We are currently developing the Round Tower’s guided tours. For the time being, it is not possible to book a guided tour.

The whole world is passing through the Round Tower. A guided tour offers an extra dimension to a visit by telling the stories of the tower and the people who have come here since 1642.

Please note that groups of 40 people or more are required to divide themselves into smaller groups.

Prices

Guided tours: 1750 DKK
After hours and weekends: 2500 DKK

Schools and other educational institutions: 800 DKK
After hours and weekends: 1200 DKK

Prices include entrance to the Round Tower for groups no larger than 30 persons.

Masonry in Royal Colours

It did not come out of the blue that the round walls of the Round Tower are built in masonry of alternating red and yellow bricks. The colours were meant to send a signal to the world that this was a royal edifice.

Hans Christian Andersen and the Round Tower

Arriving in Copenhagen as a young man, Hans Christian Andersen visited the Round Tower as one of the first things and was allowed to use the books in the University Library – provided that he put the books properly away after use. Later he returned to the tower numerous times in his writings.
